Yeah - that was what really made the point.

Perfectly fine to allow hate-mongers to protest while supressing those calling for tolerance.

Tells us all we need to know about have far from a totalitarian state Russian hasn't come.

I don't know about the mainstream media, but seeing communism exchanged for budding fascism isn't my ideal of progress.

for all that we complain in central europe about how far we still have to go (hey, we had molotov cocktails thrown at us [i wasn't there, was visiting mother in america, but i watched it on youtube] in Budapest last summer at our parade, and while I really want to go to Belgrade this summer for pride, watching all the neonazis preparations, I don't think it's safe, but that's the point of having the parades, to make it safe, eventually.), at least the police are on our side. We have riot police at our parades and they protect us as much as they are able from the nazis.
